TOOTH BONDING: AN OVERVIEW
Tooth bonding is an economical and minorly invasive procedure that allows Dr. Huckin to address minor tooth damage that you may have. Additionally, tooth bonding is great for any staining that is resistant to our whitening solutions. Although this is not considered a permanent dental restoration, tooth bonding can last many years as long as you regularly practice good smile maintenance.
Dr. Huckin will work with you on an individual basis to ensure that tooth bonding will meet your needs. Sometimes chips and discoloration are caused by underlying issues that will need to be addressed in your treatment plan as well. The tooth bonding process is typically completed during a single visit to our Dallas, Texas office and takes less than an hour to complete.
Tooth bonding is often recommended to our patients to treat:
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Discolored teeth
- Misshapen teeth
TOOTH BONDING: WHAT TO EXPECT
Similar to a dental filling, tooth bonding involves filling in any blemishes on your existing tooth with a color-matched resin that is sized down to blend in flawlessly with your smile. A very small amount of your original tooth will need to be removed and etched so that the resin is able to properly adhere. Once attached to your tooth, the resin is sculpted to the surface of your tooth so that it does not feel unnatural or disrupt your bit pattern. An ultraviolet light is then used to ensure that the resin is secured to the tooth and will last you up to ten years if properly maintained. Touch-ups may be necessary but are usually just as quick and minimally invasive.
